In 2019, the Société de Musique contemporaine du Québec commissioned me for a piece meant for children. Having the objective that this piece could be sung in schools by their students, I thought it would be interesting to introduce them to throat singing. And that’s how Les Grands Espaces came to life, with the collaboration of talented katajjaq throat singers Lydia Etok and Nina Segalowitz. This incredible experience brought me to pursue composition for a younger public. At this current stage in my career, maybe it is too early to talk about transmission, but I’m passionate about sharing with children since they bring so much to the project with their questions and their wonderment!
